These two concept plans explore different ways of transforming a Doncaster garden into a modern, structured and highly usable outdoor space. Each plan takes the same footprint and reimagines it with a different balance of layout, features and atmosphere. The walkthrough animations bring both designs to life, showing exactly how the garden feels when you move through it and how each idea works in real space.
Both concepts focus on clean geometry, strong lines, practical zoning and a layout that supports everyday living, entertaining and relaxation. Although the two plans share the same foundations, they offer distinct approaches to outdoor living, giving the clients a clear choice in style and function.
Concept Plan 1 – A Structured, Multi‑Zone Modern Garden
The first concept plan is built around a strong, symmetrical layout that creates a calm and organised feel from the moment you step outside. Porcelain paving with cobble set borders forms the main circulation routes, guiding movement naturally through the garden. Raised beds frame the space and add height, structure and year‑round interest, while the artificial turf areas provide low‑maintenance green space that stays tidy in all seasons.
The outdoor room sits at the rear of the garden and acts as a focal point, creating a sheltered space for relaxation or work. The water feature adds movement and sound, softening the geometry and bringing a sense of calm to the design. Arches, specimen containers and decorative gravel add detail and rhythm, giving the garden a contemporary but welcoming character.
The walkthrough animation for this plan highlights the clarity of the layout, the balance between hard landscaping and planting, and the way each zone connects seamlessly to the next. It shows how the garden feels structured without being rigid, and how the outdoor room anchors the entire design.
Concept Plan 2 – A More Open, Contemporary Layout with Strong Architectural Lines
The second concept plan takes a more open approach, using long sightlines and bold geometry to create a modern, architectural feel. The porcelain paving continues as the main surface, but the arrangement of the raised beds and pergolas shifts the emphasis toward a more linear, contemporary style. The artificial turf areas are shaped to create contrast between soft and hard surfaces, giving the garden a clean, crisp look.
The pergolas introduce height and create a sense of movement through the space, drawing the eye from one end of the garden to the other. The water feature sits in a more prominent position in this layout, acting as a visual anchor and adding a calm, reflective quality to the design. The outdoor room remains an important feature, but the surrounding layout feels more open and expansive compared to the first concept.
The walkthrough animation for this plan shows how the long lines, open spaces and architectural elements work together to create a garden that feels modern, spacious and visually striking. It demonstrates how the pergolas frame views, how the raised beds define the layout and how the materials tie everything together.
Comparing the Two Concepts
Although both plans use the same materials and overall footprint, they offer two very different experiences. The first concept feels more enclosed, structured and intimate, with a strong sense of symmetry and defined zones. The second concept feels more open, contemporary and architectural, with long sightlines and a greater emphasis on movement and flow.
The walkthrough animations make these differences clear, allowing the clients to see how each design works in real time and how the garden will feel once built. This side‑by‑side approach gives them the confidence to choose the layout that best suits their lifestyle and the way they want to use the space.
Bringing the Designs to Life
These two concept plans for a Doncaster property show how the same garden can be transformed in completely different ways through thoughtful design. Whether the clients prefer the structured calm of the first concept or the open, contemporary feel of the second, both layouts offer a practical, modern and visually appealing outdoor space.
This is the approach I take across all my projects in Doncaster, Pontefract, Wakefield and Sheffield: strong layout, practical features and gardens that feel calm, organised and enjoyable all year round.
