This thoughtfully designed layout makes the most of the available space, combining hard landscaping, planting, and structured pathways to create a balanced and inviting garden. Stylish Indian Sandstone Paving with Cobble Sets
For the main patios and paths, I chose Indian sandstone paving with cobble set edging. This timeless combination adds texture, durability, and definition to the space, while complementing the overall garden design. The cobble sets provide a strong visual border that enhances the curves and flow of the layout, guiding the eye around the garden.
Level Changes with Brick Retaining Wall
To the left-hand side of the garden, I designed a brick retaining wall. This not only helps to level the ground but also provides an attractive raised planting border, perfect for showcasing shrubs, perennials, and seasonal colour. Retaining walls are a practical solution in sloping gardens, creating structure while adding a strong design element.
Pathway Around the Lawn
A sandstone cobble path runs neatly around the central lawn, connecting different areas of the garden. This pathway not only improves movement and accessibility but also frames the lawn beautifully, creating a strong sense of order and balance. Trellis Panels and Garden Screening
At the rear of the garden, the pathway leads to a shed that I screened with trellis panels. This helps soften the look of the structure, providing a more attractive boundary and offering the opportunity for climbing plants. Trellis screening is a clever way to conceal practical features while maintaining a stylish and natural finish in the garden.
Planting Borders to Enhance Structure
To complete the design, I included planting borders along the rear and right-hand side of the garden. These borders bring texture, depth, and seasonal colour, while also helping to soften the hard landscaping. Planting borders are a vital part of any West Yorkshire garden design, transforming a functional layout into a vibrant outdoor space that feels alive year-round. Walkthrough Animation of the Kippax Garden
As part of the design process, I produced a 3D walkthrough animation for this Kippax garden. This allowed the clients to visualise the finished layout, from the sandstone patios to the raised planting borders and screened shed.
